A little about myself, I’m Patricia McGirr (Trish)
I moved to New Zealand from the United States in October 2006 with my husband (a Kiwi). In the US, I was a truck driver for 15 years and drove 2.5 million miles in the 48 continental States and Canada.
Other truck drivers gave me the CB handle “Smiles” because that is what I do, I smile all the time, even though it’s not easy to smile while driving on ice and blowing snow in a Wyoming winter.
I always wanted to be a massage therapist. I was out on the road not just driving but literally living in the truck for 5 weeks at a time. |
 |
When I got home I would get a massage from a wounderful therapist in Mena, Arkansas. She would put me right for the next 5 long weeks.
When I moved to New Zealand I enrolled in the Diploma of Reflexology course at the Canterbury School of Natural Medicine (CCNM).
The course is 18 months long, involving anatomy, pathophysiology, reflexology, massage, and aromatherapy.
When it came to naming my business I wanted to bring my past to my present hence the name for my business is Smiles Natural Therapies. |
